a chart of a/f ratio on the x-axis versus NO and HC on the Y-axes, on the low a/f values (near the origin), NO rises and HC drops; on the higher a/f values, HC rises and NO drops. I believe the catalytic converters work to reduce HC emissions by promoting oxidation on the platinum surface. NO is "controlled" by EGR and a/f ratio. Perhaps you should check your catalytic converters (they do age and loose efficiency) as well as the temperaure of the coolant. NO rises with temperature. Leaner means hotter but there is also the actual engine temp.
